Created on September 18, 2001, the University of Laghouat is named after Amar TELIDJI, after a long evolution marked by:

  the creation of a Higher School of Technical Education (and an Institute of Mechanical Engineering , by virtue of Decree No. 165-86 of 6 August 1986;

  the creation of a university center by reconversion of the ENSET, in accordance with the Decree N ° 157-97 of May 10, 1997, regrouping four (04) Institutes: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Economic Sciences and change of the name of the establishment in Amar Telidii University Center of Laghouat;

   the promotion of the center into a multidisciplinary University since September 18, 2001, pursuant to Decree No. 270-01 of September 18, 2001, which brings together three (03) Faculties: Sciences and Sciences of Engineering, Law and Social Sciences, Sciences Economics and Management Sciences;

  The restructuring of the university through the creation of six faculties (Technology, Sciences, Law and Political Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Letters and Languages, Economic Sciences, Business and Management Sciences) and an Institute of Science and Technology Physical and Sports Activities (STAPS) by Executive Decree No. 10-198 of 15 Ramadhan 1431 corresponding to August 25, 2010.

  The introduction of the L.M.D system and the reform of the teachings (new architecture, reorganization of teaching ...) from 2006;

   The creation of the Faculty of Medicine by Executive Decree No. 13-301 of March 14, 2013.
